True Religion edgy but doesn't last
True Religion, a jeanswear company, released True Religion perfume for women in 2008 and it is available in 50mL and 100mL size bottles as an eau de parfum. What comes to mind for me at the first scent is a sweet, citrus melding that is very fresh, crisp and clean smelling with just the slightest touch of a woodsy note to it.
The package itself brings to mind a crisp, clean vintage style. The box has an antiqued newspaper look to with what look like simple pencil drawings of feminine images that instantly made me think of faded jeans and white t-shirts. The bottle itself was a bit of a surprise. With such a simple box, I was expecting a simple bottle. However, the frosted perfume bottle with scalloped edges is anything but simple. The front of the bottle has a beautiful pewter look floral design with a sparkling crystal cut gem in the center. The pewter look stopper features the perfume's name with floral detailing.
True Religion for women has apple, red currant, violet leaves, mandarin and bergamot top notes. The heart notes are amarylis, freesia and plum. Base notes for True Religion for women include Hinoki, amber and cedar.
While I love, love, love the scent itself, True Religion for women just doesn't last at all for me. I find myself reapplying it every hour even with heavy application which just does not work. There is virtually no sillage to speak of with True Religion so don't expect to have it noticed by anyone but you. Possibly it would be improved if there was a body lotion or cream you could use along with it but there isn't that I've found.
After the gorgeous presentation of the box and the perfume bottle, I really wanted to fall in love with this perfume. My daughter took one look at the bottle and after a few spritzes decided this was the perfect perfume for her so perhaps with a young girl this perfume would be a big hit. If only it lasted longer for me ... I would be thrilled.
