Tips to help keep your summer tan
You spent all summer working on that killer summer tan. Then fall sets in and it seems to disappear quicker than cake at a kid's birthday party. All that work ... done. Although it's tough to maintain your healthy tan throughout the winter, there are ways you can help it linger just a while longer.
Moisturizer
We can't stress enough the importance of moisturizer. Not only does it hydrate your skin, but it actually helps enhance your skin tone and encourages that tan to stick around a while longer. Moisturizer will prevent ashy skin and peeling, which helps your tan linger. Go nuts with that lotion!
Avoid long showers
We lose our tans because over time we exfoliate the top layer of skin, which is the epidermal layer. This is where we get our pigment. If you can avoid long showers, you will lessen the exfoliation time.
Sunless tanners
Don't worry, you won't look like an Oompa Loompa; sunless tanners are a lot more advanced than they used to be. Invest in a quality brand and apply it two or three times per week. Using a sunless tanning lotion while you're already tan will lengthen the lifespan of your tan.
Eat well
Eating fruit and vegetables that contain vitamin E and zinc can really benefit your skin. Eat broccoli, peanuts, apricogs, peaches, apples or sunflower seeds.
Bronzer
Once your tan has faded, and it will, don't shy away from using a bronzer on your face and neck. Used in combination with a rosy blush, the bronzer will put that summer glow right back in your skin!
